Carol Regier, Executive Director, RN CCDC III

Carol Regier, Executive Director, RN CCDC III Carol Regier is the Executive Director of Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, South Dakota. She has been with Keystone since it's beginning in 1973. Carol has been involved in many aspects of the field of chemical dependency, from her first position as a staff nurse to her current position of Executive Director. Carol is very passionate for those afflicted with addictions and their families.

Her career history entails the development of several treatment programs at Keystone for both Inpatient and Outpatient. She plays a highly active role in the community of addiction, by serving on various boards as well as being a member of many service and educational organizations and associations. She is the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Chemical Dependency Counselors in South Dakota in 1998. She also is the recipient of the Business and Professional Women/USA "Women of Achievement Award" in 2001.

E.R. Regier, MD

E.R. Regier, MD Dr. Regier is the Medical Director of Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, SD. He has been with Keystone since its beginning in 1973. Dr. Regier was also in private practice in Canton for thirty years. He is also currently the Medical Director at the state penitentiary.

Dr. Regier graduated from Washburn University in Kansas and received a degree in Medical Technology. He attended the University of Nebraska Medical School and graduated with his Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Regier was a past Chief of Staff of Canton-Inwood Hospital and a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and of the South Dakota Medical Association. He is buprenorphine certified by A.S.A.M.

Dr. Regier and his wife reside in Canton where he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and antique collecting.

Robert R. Perkinson, PhD

Robert R. Perkinson, PhD Robert R. Perkinson is the clinical director of Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, SD. He has been treating alcoholics, addicts and pathological gamblers for over thirty years. He is the author of Treating Alcoholism: How To Help Your Clients Get On The Road To Recovery (2004). He is the author of Chemical Dependency Counseling: A Practical Guide, Second Edition (2002), the leading treatment manual in the world for chemical dependency counselors. With Dr. Arthur E. Jongsma, Jr., he is the coauthor of the Addiction Treatment Planner (2001), the best selling treatment planner and computer software program for mental health and addiction professionals. Dr. Perkinson is also the author of God Talks To You (2000), and the meditation tape, A Communication from God (2001). Both are designed to help addicts make their first conscious contact with the higher power of their own understanding. He has a band that just completed their second CD, Peace Will Come (2003), music that helps addicts learn the essentials of a spiritual journey. With Dr. Jean LaCour, Dr. Perkinson wrote the Faith-Based Addiction Curriculum (2004) to teach professionals of faith how to treat addiction. He is an accomplished international speaker and regular contributor to numerous professional journals. Dr. Perkinson is the Webmaster of several web pages including www.godtalkstoyou.com, www.alcoholismtreatment.org and www.robertperkinson.com, where he answers questions on addiction free of charge. Luther Hegland, MD

Luther Hegland, MD

Luther M. Hegland, is on the staff at Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, SD. Since 2003, he has been on staff as the Consulting Psychiatrist for the Adult Unit.

Dr. Hegland is board certified in psychiatry. He was Chief Resident for the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Engineering Physics. Dr. Hegland is a medical review officer and is buprenorphine certified by A.S.A.M.

Currently, he is also the Staff Psychiatrist at Community Mental Health in Mitchell, SD and was a Consulting Psychiatrist for the South Dakota Penitentiary System.

Dr. Hegland is married with three children. He enjoys running, golf, tennis, travel and reading.
