Opioid Dependence Track

This program is for patients who have become addicted to either prescription opioids or to other narcotics. Withdrawal from opioids is often very difficult. Patients may experience severe physical symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, extreme muscle cramping and craving.

Keystone Treatment Center physicians have received waivers for a license from the DEA to treat opioid withdrawal with Buprenorphine (trade names Subutex or Suboxone.) Buprenorphine is an opioid partial agonist.  At low doses it produces sufficient agonist effect to enable opioid dependent individuals to discontinue the use of opioids with minimal withdrawal symptoms.  Patients are placed on reducing doses of Buprenorphine for approximately one week.  This is done under careful inpatient medical monitoring.

Patients participate in a Twelve Step recovery program while in treatment with emphasis on mental, physical and spiritual recovery.  They will receive individual and group counseling from certified chemical dependency counselors, clergy, physicians, psychologists and psychiatrists.

If the patient has a chronic pain problem, they will work with our physician and with a psychologist to learn alternative pain management.
